1. What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented sparkling tea made up of 4 ingredients; water, tea, sugar and a SCOBY or symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. This living culture is what makes kombucha so special. A little tangy and a little sweet, with just the right amount of fizz, kombucha is a delicious natural treat.

2. SCOBY? Still sounds weird. What does it do?

It is the live culture that turns the sweetened tea into kombucha, and is quite similar to the fermentation of products like real yogurt and sourdough. The SCOBY uses sugar as food, and the fermentation results in Kombucha that naturally contains good organic acids that are gut friendly. These acids give kombucha a distinctive tangy sour taste.

3. What are the benefits of drinking Kombucha?

Plug Kombucha into Google and you’ll find plenty of positive benefits to drinking Kombucha. Kombucha is a food and not a drug or supplement. Kombucha, like all fermented foods, naturally contains good bacteria and organic acids – and the benefits to our digestion and our bodies are well known.

4. How often should I drink Kombucha?

There is no “right” or “wrong” amount when it comes to drinking kombucha. Just drink as much as it takes to make you feel good. Drinking too much however means you might need to take a few more trips to the bathroom than normal. We recommend it’s best to start with no more than one bottle a day (330ml) and see what works best for you.

5. How do you make Amplify Kombucha?

We follow an old school batch brew method using a blend of organic teas, organic sugar, a bit of starter liquid (aged kombucha) and a SCOBY. We ferment our base for roughly 3 to 4 weeks. When our Kombucha taste testers say it’s ready to go, we flavour it using organic and all natural flavours.

6. How is Amplify Kombucha different from other kombucha brands?

When it comes to food and drinks, we believe ‘taste is king’. Although we appreciate the acquired tangy, vinegary taste of many kombucha brands out there, we want everyone to fall in love with this awesome drink from the get-go and so we’ve brewed our kombucha to have a smooth, clean and rounded finish and no nasty vinegar aftertaste.

7. Is kombucha a tea?

The range contains a very low level of sugar – less than ¼ teaspoon of sugar per serve. Even though more sugar is added at the beginning as a ‘food source’ for the yeast to ferment, almost all this sugar is consumed during this fermentation process leaving us with a naturally fizzy drink that’s very low in sugar!

Like other cultured products, such as yoghurt , kombucha is a live cultured product which is best kept refrigerated. To stop the product from continuing to ferment in the bottle it needs to stay chilled. This will keep the flavour the way we like it and control the fizziness of the drink.
